In the last few weeks, I've been silent but not too quiet about everything going on. We've seen lots of noise happen for about a week in the fashion and beauty industry, and it caused me to take a step back and assess navigating this space of AMPLIFYING BLACK VOICES!
I like to always dig deeper into what it looks like to be a brand representing all Black talent, brands, and visions. It's not a job I take lightly. It caused me to examine our clients, our platforms, our goals. I love where we are, but I know I have a duty, and my duty is BLACK EXPERIENCE!
Between a pandemic and police brutality, Black communities are affected in every way, and our pain is the loudest, our frustrations are the loudest, and at FOR US. THE AGENCY our JOY and EXPERIENCE will always be the LOUDEST!
I've spent the last few weeks nurturing my duty, meditating, and journaling on my call to activism for my community, and I am excited to launch the initiative #5thaveBlackExperience.
5th Avenue- Is where my love and understanding of Black culture started. South 5th Street in East Nashville! Black Experience: This is what I've LIVED all my life, and so has my clients and my community and it deserves to be amplified by us.
5th Ave. Black Experience is birthed from taking back Black Experience & Culture. We do not aim to use your platforms but to collaborate with your platforms. We are faithful consumers, trend creators, noisemakers, and we spend a trillion dollars a year, but are the least heard.
We've seen countless times of brands, publications, etc. use our culture and appropriate, we've seen brands want to use Black talent but make them fit "into their narratives" instead of embracing our culture as a whole."
We are looking for you to:
Amplify our Voices + Platforms
Buy from us
Put us in your marketing campaigns as Black People.
Embrace our culture
5TH Ave. Black Experience is also dedicated to holding Black brand's accountable in being their best so that the world can experience all we have to offer.
